Kids Nature and Animal Programs -


Nature/Animal discovery programs give participants hands on experience helping with daily chores, training sessions, and care. These activities are designed to be both fun and educational , Hiking, Canoeing, night time camp fires, healthy foods are all part of the 7 day long sessions.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience and take part in:

 

SLED DOGS - kennel care and grooming along with training and conditioning our beautiful and loving canine buddies.. Lead dog training sessions, Canine Swim conditioning, CaniCrossing, wheeled rigs training.. Puppy training (when we have them) If you love dogs you will certainly love these activities..

 

LLAMAS - learning about their care, grooming, training ,hiking and packing. Shearing and combing fleece, and creating art from their natural fibers. Play the premier sport of Llama Soccer! It's a fun and exciting learning experience for both kids and llamas.

 

HORSE PROGRAM - take part in their feeding and care, learn from “Leo” the horse girl, about training styles and building a trusting relationship with horses, gymkhana and trail riding, carriage driving with some of our Morgan Mares.

NATURE HIKES - to waterfalls, active beaver dams, and mountainside vistas, many hikes will including plant, bird and wildlife identification along the way.

Why not learn something while we are out playing in the woods?

 

CANOE - trips on the Androscoggin River and Umbaggog Lake National Wildlife Refuse, safe flat water trips for novice paddlers, offering lot’s of wildlife viewing opportunities, combined with a bit of time to cool off on our warm summer days..

 

HUMMINGBIRD - close encounters, 18 years of developing an unusually grand population of these amazing little creatures.. Getting close and intimate, feel the power of their wing beats (70 per second) learn about their fantastic migrations, and their incredible physiologies. Avian Acrobats… These little guys and gals will touch your heart and open your minds.

 


ORGANIC GARDENING - the complete process from soil development via composting thru planting and harvest of these vibrant and healthy plants.

 

FUNCTIONAL ART- including the building and creatively painting of dog houses, bird houses, Adirondack Chairs. Using Natural Llama fleece to make creative works… Garden Sculptures for plants and more..


ALTERNATIVE ENERGY - Learn about what we use here at the Telemark Inn, solar, and wind to create clean renewable energy.

NATURE DISCOVERY PROGRAM GOALS - To help nurture an emotional and intellectual connection with the natural world around us, Emotion drives the intellect, and a activated and engaged intellect can be a very useful tool for both the individual child and the future preservation of our very limited natural world around us.
